If gaming is a blast, then VR gaming is an explosion!

If you’ve not tried Virtual Reality gaming, you need to.  Quite simply put: it is unbelievably cool!  There is really no way to adequately describe it.

With normal gaming, looking at a computer monitor – even a big HD monitor – you can simply turn your head to escape the game.  You can get distracted by any sight or sound.  The TV might grab your attention, or your girlfriend might tell you it’s time to go – and as soon as you turn your head or hit ESC, you’re out.  You’re on pause, and you know you can try to pretend you’re back in when the distraction goes away.  The game is fun – in 2D.  You can call it awesome, and even in some cases, immersive or amazing – but, it’s still contained within the flatness of your monitor.

But what happens when you can’t escape?  What does it feel like, when you turn around and the game is still there?  What if the monster or the bad guy you’re trying to terminate is still there, even after you turn around?  Or even still, what if another opponent is there waiting for his chance to take you on?!?  Where can you go, which hand do you attack with, the right or left?  (Notice, I said, which ‘hand’, not which ‘button’ or where should you toggle your thumb-driven aperture.)

Or, on a less violent note, what happens when you walk off the edge of a cliff or building?  Your logic is telling you you won’t fall, but if all of your other senses are telling you otherwise, what part of your brain will you believe??  When you try to grab that thing that your senses tell you is really there, can you touch it?  It’s not real, is it?  So why are your eyes so convinced?  Until you experience it, there’s no way to know…

For some people it’s too much – but for you, it’s something you’ve gotta do!
